de Havilland Fly Past

A team of 7 de Havilland aircraft had a rendezvous at Panshanger Aerodrome today. Once all the pilots had been fed and watered in the cafe they flew in formation over the University and then over the de Havilland Museum. There was some stunning aircraft on parade and the weather held out. Superb!

Mid Summer's Party 14th July - Theme is announced

The theme for the Mid Summer's party has been decided ... it's Sports - with the Olympics so close on it's heels it would have been rude not to - so come dressed to reflect any sport.

Let your imagination run wild!

Dan our chef is tempted to don his Hong Kong Phooey outfit. Other suggestions have been swimmer, tennis player, sumo wrestler, golfer, american football player, gymnast, cyclist, rally driver and darts player!

What will you come as? Leave us a comment or just maybe a clue?

New growth at North London Flying School

A new cherry tree took pride of place outside the toilet block [!] today, lovingly planted by Robbie. Let's hope it bears fruit then it might be cherry pies all round!

Robbie has also spruced up the borders and has been tidying, weeding, strimming and mowing all week to make the grounds look their best.

Snake on a Plane?

A VIP visitor from Jersey landed at Panshanger Aerodrome this morning ... a Boa Constrictor! It was on it's way to a new home via the Flying School's Club House.

After having the once over from it's travelling companions - and a posing for a few photos - it went on it's way. We hope it's happy in it's new home :)

Biscotti, Olives & Spicy Nuts

Alex, Dan and Robbie have been creating another batch of home-made biscotti. Come in over the bank holiday weekend (we're open Monday as well) and see what you think. Great dipped in a Mocha :)

We took delivery of our Olives et Al supplies yesterday, feta stuffed olives, sunshine olives and piri piri nuts.

Love those little olive catchers, they're so cute! Order some as a nibble, a starter or as a sharing plate.

New chef + new dishes + new layout + new tables = better cafe?

Lots of changes in the cafe recently; new chef, new staff, new layout, new tables, new dishes, new blinds, new flowers, new ashtrays ... I could go on! So many improvements but there's still more to come. The cafe is a great place to chat, meet friends, have a drink and/or have a meal while visiting the Aerodrome. We have specials most days along with freshly ground coffees and a multitude of specialty teas and soft drinks.

Watch out for our spicy nuts, smoky nuts classic and feta stuffed olives from Olives et Al which we start selling next week - we're expecting lots of sunshine :-\

Our new dedicated motorcycle parking area

Many of our members including Haim and head chef Dan ride motorbikes and indeed we occasionally are visited by a few constabulary quad bikes so this area is going to be a welcome addition.

Those who think it was an excuse for boys to play in the mud with a mini-JCB are just simply wrong! ;-)

Our new tree trunk planters

After much chainsaw sculpting by Haim (in the pouring rain) we have some awesome tree trunk planters outside the kitchen in which we can grow various herbs and some vegetables ready for the summer.

We'll post some pictures of the produce when it arrives. Meantime we already have a tree trunk planter by the cafe entrance that's bearing fruit... well herbs which regularly get used in the Out of the Box Cafe dishes.
